Call to order
The meeting was called to order at 7pm by the town hall moderator.
Roll call
The town hall moderator called the roll and noted the attendees present.
Approval of previous minutes
The previous meeting’s minutes were read by the town hall moderator, and after some discussion, they were approved by the attendees.
Old business
The town hall moderator asked if there was any old business to discuss. There were no items of old business raised.
New business – Summer Camp Program
a. The town hall moderator introduced the topic of the town’s summer camp program now that school is out. Attendees discussed the various activities and classes that could be offered to the children in the community.
b. The following classes were proposed:
- Archery: Providing instruction on archery skills and safety.
- Swimming: Offering swimming lessons for children of different skill levels.
- Jineteada Gaucha: Introducing children to the traditional Argentine rodeo, including horseback riding and traditional horsemanship.
- Barrel racing: Teaching the fundamentals of barrel racing for those interested in equestrian sports.
- Equestrian vaulting: Offering classes in equestrian vaulting, combining gymnastics and horsemanship.
Attendees expressed enthusiasm for the diverse range of classes, highlighting the importance of providing opportunities for children to explore different interests and develop new skills. One attendee expressed concern for the safety of their children in regards to the Jineteada Gaucha idea. Others questioned the validity of this attendee’s concern with the inclusion of equestrian vaulting, a much more dangerous sport, in the summer program.
Open forum
During the open forum, attendees had the chance to share additional ideas or concerns related to the summer camp program. Some suggested incorporating outdoor adventure activities, while others emphasized the need for inclusivity and accessibility in the program.
